In 2018, Samaritan Inn, a homeless shelter in Newton, received a $100,000 grant from Impact100 Garden State to purchase a house to renovate into three apartments for homeless families. Opened in 2021, the new residence has allowed three families to find stability, seek employment and begin to save money toward permanent housing.
“Thank you Samaritan Inn. If it wasn’t for you, we would be living still in our broken down car, or worse, on the streets,” said a woman who resided in one of the apartments.
With the addition of this three-family home, Samaritan Inn was able to offer private apartments for 14 homeless families. “This funding will continue to make an impact on many homeless families in the years to come,” says Samaritan Inn Executive Director Dawn Metzger.
